REMEMBER, I REMEMBER

EVERYBODY’S GOT A FANTASY

A LITTLE DREAM OR TWO

A WAY TO TRAVEL BACK IN TIME

TO THE DOOR THAT WE ONCE KNEW

I CLOSE MY EYES AND DRIFT AWAY

AND SAIL INTO THE SPLENDOR

OF A WORLD THAT NEVER TOLD A LIE

REMEMBER, I REMEMBER

HOW I DANCED THE DANCE OF HONESTY

ON THOSE SKINNY LEGS OF MINE

THROUGH THE GREEN GREEN GRASS OF INNOCENCE

TO THE STREETS OF NORTH WEST NINE

AND I STILL LOVE TO PLAY THOSE CHILDISH GAMES

RUN BAREFOOT ACROSS THE STREAM

TO FIND SOLACE IN THE CLIMBING TREE

NOW ISN’T THAT A SCREAM

EVERYBODY’S GOT A MEMORY

OF SOMEONE THEY USED TO KNOW

SOMEONE WHO USED TO BE A FRIEND

A LONG LONG TIME AGO

I CLOSE MY EYES AND SEE YOUR FACE

YOUR SMILE SO WARM AND TENDER

IN A WORLD THAT NEVER FELT COLD

REMEMBER, I REMEMBER

HOW WE SANG THOSE SONGS ABOVE THE WAVES

LIKE GULLS WHO BRAVE THE OCEAN

WE TURNED THE TIDE INTO THE WIND

WITH LOVE AND SWEET DEVOTION

AND I STILL LOVE TO HEAR YOUR GENTLE VOICE

THE SOUND OF ALL MY REASON

ECHOES OF THE WAY WE WERE

A SONG FOR EVERY SEASON

This is not my poem but is written by Rod Trott who wrote the lyrics

for my favorite song of all time Ocean Deep sung by

Cliff Richard. I simply love his poetry and he can be found on

Facebook.
